Questions and answers
What is the hyperfocal distance?
It is the focus distance that gives the most depth of field. Focus there and everything from half that distance to infinity looks acceptably sharp, which is ideal for landscapes.
Which circle of confusion is used?
The sensor diagonal divided by 1,500, which is the usual standard (about 0.029 mm for full frame). Choose a custom value for stricter sharpness, for example for large prints.
Why is more of the sharp zone behind the subject?
Depth of field always extends further behind the point of focus than in front of it, and the difference grows as you focus farther away.
Is Depth of Field free?
Yes. Every tool on ImgImage is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you process.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Large files are processed faster on a computer.
