About this tool
Photos from phones and cameras carry hidden details: the camera model and serial number, the date and time, editing software and often the exact GPS location. This tool removes EXIF, XMP, IPTC, comments, embedded thumbnails and other hidden data from many photos at once.
JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF files are cleaned directly in the file, without compressing the picture again, so quality stays exactly the same. For each photo you see what was found, what was removed, and a check of the cleaned copy.
- Works on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
- Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
- No limits on file count or size beyond what your device can handle.
Questions and answers
Does removing metadata reduce image quality?
No. For JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF only the metadata blocks are deleted; the image data is copied unchanged. Other formats such as HEIC or TIFF are saved again as JPG or PNG without any metadata.
Why is my photo still upright after cleaning?
Phones often store pictures sideways with a rotation tag. When a JPG has one, a tiny metadata block with only that rotation is kept so the photo doesn’t appear turned. It contains no personal details.
What is the color profile, and should I keep it?
A color profile tells apps how to show the colors accurately. It holds no information about you or your camera, so keeping it is recommended.
Is Remove Metadata free?
Yes. Every tool on ImgImage is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you process.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files are processed by your own browser and never leave your device. Nothing you open here is sent to a server.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Large files are processed faster on a computer.
