About this tool
Make parts of an image clickable. Draw rectangles, circles and polygons on your picture, give each area a link, alt text and an optional tooltip, and copy the ready-made HTML image map.
Image maps use fixed pixel coordinates, so the tool can add a tiny script that keeps the areas aligned when the image is resized. You can also export percent-positioned links instead, which scale with the image without any script.
- Works on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
- Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
- No limits on file count or size beyond what your device can handle.
Questions and answers
Do image maps work on responsive sites?
Plain image maps don’t scale: their coordinates are in pixels of the original image. Turn on the resize script, or choose Percent links, which place links in percentages over the image.
How do I draw a polygon?
Choose Polygon, click each corner, then click the first corner, double-click or press Enter to finish. Esc cancels and Backspace removes the last corner.
Is alt text required?
Yes for accessibility: every clickable area should have alt text describing where the link goes, so screen reader users can use it.
Is HTML Image Map free?
Yes. Every tool on ImgImage is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you process.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files are processed by your own browser and never leave your device. Nothing you open here is sent to a server.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Large files are processed faster on a computer.
