About this tool

Generate images filled with random pixels: full-color noise, grayscale static, black-and-white dither patterns or random picks from your own palette. Set the pixel size to get anything from fine noise to chunky mosaics.

The pattern comes from a seed number, so the same settings always give the same image. Press Shuffle for a new pattern, or type a seed to get one back later.

  • Works on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
  • Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
  • No limits on file count or size beyond what your device can handle.

Questions and answers

What can I use random pixel images for?

They are useful as test images for compression and displays, textures and backgrounds, placeholder art and pixel mosaics.

Which format should I choose?

PNG keeps every pixel exactly. Random noise doesn’t compress well, so JPG files are blurry and not much smaller.

Is Random Pixels free?

Yes. Every tool on ImgImage is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you process.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Large files are processed faster on a computer.
