About this tool
Add punch to flat photos or soften harsh ones. Contrast is applied with a smooth S-shaped curve around middle gray, so shadows and highlights are compressed gently instead of being clipped.
Negative values lower the contrast for a soft, matte look. The before-and-after slider shows the change on your own image.
- Works on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
- Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
- No limits on file count or size beyond what your device can handle.
Questions and answers
Why do colors look stronger with more contrast?
Contrast is applied to each color channel, which separates them a little further, much like in a photo editor. Lower the saturation afterwards if you want the original color intensity.
Does high contrast lose detail?
The curve never clips, but very high values compress the darkest and brightest tones, so subtle detail there becomes harder to see.
Is Contrast free?
Yes. Every tool on ImgImage is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you process.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files are processed by your own browser and never leave your device. Nothing you open here is sent to a server.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Large files are processed faster on a computer.
