About this tool

Pull a palette of 3 to 16 colors from any photo, illustration or logo. Colors are grouped with k-means clustering in a perceptual color space, or with median cut, and shown with how much of the image each one covers.

Copy the HEX codes, or export the palette as CSS variables, JSON or a PNG swatch image for your designs.

  • Works on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
  • Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
  • No limits on file count or size beyond what your device can handle.

Questions and answers

What’s the difference between k-means and median cut?

k-means finds the colors that best represent the whole image. Median cut splits the colors into even groups, which can keep small accent colors.

How do I use the palette in my website?

Copy the CSS and paste it into your stylesheet; each color becomes a variable such as --color-1.

Is Color Palette free?

Yes. Every tool on ImgImage is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you process.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your files are processed by your own browser and never leave your device. Nothing you open here is sent to a server.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Large files are processed faster on a computer.
