About this tool

Print the date and time on your photos like a camera does. The date is read from each photo’s capture time in its EXIF metadata when available, otherwise from the file date, or you can set your own.

Choose the glowing orange digital-camera style, plain text or a label on a dark box, a date format with or without the time, and a position. Process a whole batch, and each photo gets its own date.

  • Works on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
  • Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
  • No limits on file count or size beyond what your device can handle.

Questions and answers

Where does the date come from?

“When taken” uses the DateTimeOriginal value most cameras and phones save in the photo. Screenshots, edited or messaging-app images often lack it, so their file date is used and a note tells you so.

Can I set a different date?

Yes. Choose Custom and pick any date and time. The same date is then stamped on every photo in the batch.

Does the timestamp change the photo’s metadata?

No. Only the visible date is added to the picture. Use the EXIF viewer to check the metadata, or the metadata remover to strip it.

Is Add Timestamp free?

Yes. Every tool on ImgImage is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you process.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your files are processed by your own browser and never leave your device. Nothing you open here is sent to a server.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Large files are processed faster on a computer.
