How to use Upscale Image

  1. Drop an image onto the page, or paste it.
  2. Choose 2× or 4×; the size of the result is shown before you start. Then press Upscale.
  3. Compare with the original using the slider and download the larger image as PNG, JPG or WebP.

About this tool

Make a photo, screenshot or drawing two or four times larger in pixels. The image is enlarged with Lanczos resampling, a high-quality method that keeps edges smooth instead of blocky, and a light sharpening pass keeps the result crisp. Everything happens in your browser, so your image is never uploaded.

Use it when a picture has to fill a larger print, slide or layout, or to get a bigger version for further editing. Drag across the result to compare it with the original. Resampling can’t invent detail that the original doesn’t have, so very small or blurry images become larger but not sharper.

  • Works on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
  • Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
  • No limits on file count or size beyond what your device can handle.

Questions and answers

Does upscaling add detail?

No. The tool spreads the existing pixels over a larger grid as smoothly as possible and sharpens the edges slightly, so lines and text look clean, but fine detail that was never captured can’t be recovered. The sharper the original, the better the result.

How large can the result be?

Up to about 64 megapixels, depending on your browser’s memory. The tool shows the result size before you start and suggests 2× if 4× would be too large.

Which format should I save the enlarged image in?

PNG keeps every pixel exactly and supports transparency, but the file can be big. JPG and WebP are much smaller; a quality of 90% or more keeps the enlarged image clean.

Is Upscale Image free?

Yes. Every tool on ImgImage is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you process.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your files are processed by your own browser and never leave your device. Nothing you open here is sent to a server.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Large files are processed faster on a computer.
