About this tool
Convert an RGB image into a real CMYK file for print: an 8-bit CMYK TIFF or a PDF with a CMYK image. Choose coated or uncoated paper, how much black ink replaces cyan, magenta and yellow, and the total ink limit your printer asks for.
The before-and-after preview simulates how the colors will look in print, and can highlight the bright screen colors that inks can’t reproduce. This is a general conversion based on typical printing inks, not a specific printer’s color profile, so for color-critical work ask your print shop which profile they use.
- Works on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
- Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
- No limits on file count or size beyond what your device can handle.
Questions and answers
Why do my colors look duller in CMYK?
Screens mix light and can show brighter, more saturated colors than ink on paper. Vivid blues, greens and oranges are the most affected; the preview shows where.
TIFF or PDF?
Both keep the CMYK values. TIFF is the classic choice for placing images in layout software; PDF is handy when a print shop wants a ready-to-print file.
What total ink limit should I use?
Around 300% suits coated, glossy paper and 260% or less suits uncoated paper and newsprint. Your print shop can tell you their exact limit.
Is RGB to CMYK free?
Yes. Every tool on ImgImage is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you process.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files are processed by your own browser and never leave your device. Nothing you open here is sent to a server.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Large files are processed faster on a computer.
