Is the transparent background kept?
Yes. Transparent and semi-transparent pixels are copied exactly into the PNG.
Why is the PNG larger than the WebP?
PNG is lossless and less efficient than WebP, so the same picture takes more space. Turn on “Optimize file size” to shrink it a little without changing any pixels.
