About this tool
Convert a JPG, PNG, WebP or other image into a scalable SVG made of filled vector shapes. The image is reduced to a limited palette and every color area is traced into smooth paths, which you can then resize without losing sharpness.
Start from a preset such as Illustration, Detailed or Grayscale, then fine-tune the number of colors, the amount of detail and how small specks are removed. The preview updates live and shows the file size and number of paths; zoom in to check the curves.
- Works on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
- Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
- No limits on file count or size beyond what your device can handle.
Questions and answers
Will a photo look the same as an SVG?
Not exactly. Tracing turns gradients and textures into flat color areas, so photos become a posterized, illustrated version of themselves. Use Detailed with more colors for a closer result, at the cost of a larger file.
How can I make the SVG file smaller?
Use fewer colors, lower the detail, raise Remove small specks, set coordinate decimals to 0 or lower the tracing resolution.
Is my image uploaded for tracing?
No. Tracing runs in your browser in a background thread, so the image never leaves your device.
Is Image to SVG free?
Yes. Every tool on ImgImage is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you process.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files are processed by your own browser and never leave your device. Nothing you open here is sent to a server.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Large files are processed faster on a computer.
