About this tool
Recreate the dot screens used in newspaper and magazine printing. In one-color mode the photo becomes dots of a single ink on paper, with any angle, size and colors you like. CMYK mode screens cyan, magenta, yellow and black at the classic print angles, just like a printing press.
Dots, squares and lines are available, and every dot is anti-aliased, so the result stays smooth at any size.
- Works on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
- Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
- No limits on file count or size beyond what your device can handle.
Questions and answers
What are the CMYK screen angles?
Cyan is screened at 15°, magenta at 75°, yellow at 0° and black at 45°. Rotating each ink avoids moiré patterns and produces the rosette look of printed images.
What dot size should I use?
Small dots keep more detail and look like fine print. Large dots give a bold pop-art look, especially in one-color mode.
Is Halftone free?
Yes. Every tool on ImgImage is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you process.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files are processed by your own browser and never leave your device. Nothing you open here is sent to a server.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Large files are processed faster on a computer.
