Questions and answers
Where do I put the favicon files?
Upload them to the root folder of your site, next to your home page. If you use another folder, enter it under “Folder on your site” and the HTML and manifest are updated to match.
Why does the home screen icon have a background?
Phones don’t show transparency on the home screen and add their own rounded corners, so those icons are filled with your background color. The browser tab icons stay transparent unless you choose a color.
What is a maskable icon?
Some phones cut app icons into circles or other shapes. The maskable icon has extra space around your logo so nothing important is cut off.
