About this tool

Convert images to WebP, a modern format that makes files about a quarter to a third smaller than JPG at the same visual quality and keeps transparency. Every current browser can display it.

Use the quality slider for photos, or switch on “Lossless” for logos, screenshots and graphics that must stay pixel-perfect.

  • Works on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
  • Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
  • No limits on file count or size beyond what your device can handle.

Questions and answers

Lossy or lossless WebP?

Lossy is right for photos: 80–85% quality looks the same as the original at a fraction of the size. Lossless keeps every pixel and suits graphics with sharp edges and flat colors.

Can every program open WebP?

All modern browsers and most image editors can. Some older programs and upload forms still can’t, so keep a JPG or PNG copy if you need to share the file widely.

Is Convert to WebP free?

Yes. Every tool on ImgImage is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you process.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your files are processed by your own browser and never leave your device. Nothing you open here is sent to a server.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Large files are processed faster on a computer.
